Summer School in London, 2003

Eligibility

The Summer School is open to suitably qualified students from across the world.

Candidates should normally hold the degree of Master of Arts or equivalent in a relevant subject, typically (but not necessarily) a humanities subject involving crosscultural studies; they should be proficient in English and should either have started or be actively considering research in translation and/or intercultural studies.

The term ‘translation studies’ covers all branches of the scholarly study of translation and interpreting. ‘Intercultural studies’ covers any form of communication across cultural boundaries.

The form will need to be accompanied by (1) a curriculum vitae and (2) a statement of purpose setting out your current or proposed research project and the Summer School's relevance to it.

Applicants who have yet to complete their MA programme are also required to supply a letter of reference from a teacher at their institution.

A maximum of around thirty participants can be admitted to each Summer School. For the 2010 UK session, the deadline for receipt of applications is 30 April 2010. Applicants will be notified about the results by 4 May 2010. For the 2010 HK session, the deadline for application is 14 May 2010. Applicants will be notified about the results within a week.

Fee 

TRSS (UK)
For students who are sponsored by an institution the 2010 Summer School fee is £975.
For self-funded students the fee is £680. 

TRSS (Hong Kong)
For students who are sponsored by an institution the 2010 Summer School fee is HK$12,600.
For self-funded students the fee is HK$8,800.
(The tuition fee may vary every year, depending on the exchange rates.)

Please note that the fee covers access to library and computer facilities as well as tuition, course materials and refreshments. It does not cover travel, accommodation or meals.

Payment method

TRSS (UK)

Payment can be made by cheque, bank draft, bank transfer or credit card. Please click here for more information and a payment form. Deadline for the receipt of payment is 31 May 2010.

TRSS (Hong Kong)
This payment form should be downloaded, completed and forwarded to ctn@hkbu.edu.hk within 7 calendar days after you are successfully admitted.
